Future Goals
In the fall of 2006, the new adult hospital was opened. This paved the way for renovations of the old hospital for outpatient facilities. In 2009, the Eli Manning Pediatric Children's Clinic was opened and construction of the new Pediatric Emergency Center will begin (see rendition and plans below). Also in 2009, the PICU will be renovated to incorporate family centered care accomodations.

The expansion of the pediatric facilities at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is a reflection of the rapid rate of growth of our clinical services. The faculty has doubled in the last decade alone and extramural funding for research has more than tripled since 2000. The total number of outpatient visits numbered 100,000 in 2005 with approximately 10,000 admissions. Our community depends on the University to deliver high-level quality of care in an ever-changing landscape requiring an exceptional staff, state-of-the-art technologies, and appropriate facilities to meet these demands.
